BOARD OF DIRECTORS

KEN KEESMAAT

PRESIDENT & CHAIR OF THE BOARD

Hello! I am Ken Keesmaat and have had the privilege of being a Guelph Giant since 2020 as President. I grew up in Hamilton where I played minor house league hockey and developed my love of the sport. My partner Shelagh and I moved to Guelph in 1995 and have loved being a Guelphite ever since!

I am currently "retired" as an Elementary School Principal. I taught elementary school until I became a Vice Principal in 2006. I became a Principal in 2008, and retired at the end of June 2024. I worked for the Upper Grand District School Board!

I have always loved playing hockey and played adult pick up until 2014, when I suffered a concussion!

I miss playing hockey and enjoy working with the Giants players, families, and coaches! It is a real privilege to help out with the Giants and the reason for my involvement can be understood by the amazing sight of the players' smiles when they hit the ice for the first time after COVID lockdown!

I continue to look forward to helping the Giants organization grow and evolve!

Please reach out and get involved where you can!

GLEN LINDSEY

SECRETARY & HOCKEY OPERATIONS

I grew up in Fergus on a dairy farm. I played hockey from young age as well as lacrosse and baseball.  In my spare time I enjoy horse racing and attending my nephew’s events.  I’ve been a part of the Guelph Giants family for over 15 years.  I currently coach the intermediate team, and also organize tournaments and scheduling.

MIKE STUART

BOARD MEMBER & FUNDRAISING LEAD

My name is Michael Stuart and I have been with the Guelph Giants organization as a fan and parent since 2018. My son, Lucas, loves playing hockey with his teammates under the direction of his amazing coaches. I joined the Board during Covid lockdown to help the Giants in any way I could to ensure the success of the Giants.

I was born in Guelph but grew up in St. Catharines playing every sport possible but hockey. From there I went on to Wilfrid Laurier to play football and then ended up playing field lacrosse for WLU.

While living in Waterloo I coached minor basketball and learned that I loved teaching the sport to children. After Lucas was born I took a break from playing and coaching sports to learn about and help him with his autism. When Lucas decided to participate in sports I spent the next 7 years coaching his team in Guelph Minor Baseball. Currently, when not doing my duties for the Guelph Giants, I help teach shot put to the Track & Field team for Guelph Special Olympics.
